Join LGC and the Class of 2017 on Saturday, June 24 for the Chicago Cares Serve-a-thon, the city’s largest day of service. We will join more than 5,000 volunteers from across the city to make a difference in our community.
Our LGC Team has been assigned to a City Year school in the Roseland Community. We will participate in projects including painting, planting, cleaning, and other hands-on work. The registration fee is $10 per person and includes an LGC t-shirt, coffee, light breakfast, transportation to and from the event (meeting point is Daley Plaza), lunch, and a post-project celebration with food, beer and live music. Guests are welcome, including friends, family and significant others. This project is best for children ages 12 and up, as it is a long day involving facilities-type work.
As of June 18, registration for General Volunteers is closed.
The agenda for the day is as follows:
7:30 - 8:30 a.m. Check-in at Daley Plaza (50 W. Washington), and fuel up with coffee and a light breakfast
8:30 a.m. Board bus for the project site and get to work!
2:30 - 3:30 p.m. Wrap up project and depart for Daley Plaza by bus
3:30 - 5:30 p.m. Celebration at Daley Plaza with food, drink and live music
Public transportation to Daley Plaza is strongly suggested due to high congestion anticipated in the area. Parking fees are not included with registration. Self-pay parking is available near the Plaza in public garages. You will receive more instructions after you register.
